    H tie downs

Thank you. I couldn't remember if it was 3/4 or 5/8

    H tie downs

I may have used the wrong terminology I was planning to use a hoist ring like the one pictured. The guys around me swear by them both for convenience and a solid mounting point.

    H tie downs

Can anyone tell me what the tread size is on an H for the mounting holes on the frame above the front tires? I'm out of town from my tractor but I'd like to order a set of shackles to use as for a tie-down point during transportation.

    IH's in Germany

That was going to be my next step. I figured I would also put a feeler our here as well.

    IH's in Germany

My new job has me in the middle of Germany for the next month. Any chance we have any IH collectors that would be willing for me to come see their collections?

    Prepping Rims

I mounted the tire two nights ago and it practically slid on no problem. I'm not sure if it was because of my prep work with paint or because I bought a container of tire bead lube. Either way it was the smoothest tire install I've ever done.

    Prepping Rims

I forgot to take a picture prior to my original post. These are the products I used in order from left to right.

    Wrap for wiring harness

I don't have a good answer for cloth wrapping. Have you considered heat shrinking your harnesses? I did that for my B and it came out really clean looking. Sorry I don't have any pictures at the moment.

    Prepping Rims

I'm in the proccess of changing a tire on my H. While I had the tire off I wire wheeled the rim, applied rust-olemum's rust converter, applied a layer of primer, and coat of silver paint on top of that. Before I put the tire on the rim is there anything else y'all can recommend for...

    What do you see here

Looks to me to be pretty close to the definition of breathing room only.

    Farmall H front tires

I'm fairly certain they are not the original rims. Best I can tell a previous owner found another set of rims that were the right diameter that would accept the clamps from the hub. If/when I replace the wheel and tire combination, I'll be looking for both rims and rubbers.

    Farmall H front tires

At the moment the plan is to use it for a combination of parades, the occasional plow day, and bush hogging a family members field every couple of months.

    Farmall H front tires

My understanding is the last owner used it with a tiller. I don't know if that was the driving factor for using them.

    Farmall H front tires

Thank you to everyone that has humored my different questions in preparation for me purchasing my first H. I picked up this 47 H two weeks ago. Have any of you seen anyone else using these car/truck tires on the front of their tractor? I'm inclined to leave them on there until one of them goes...

    Precleaner Factory Option?

Question for the masses I've seen many different brands with different variations of an air precleaner ie Mason Jar attached to a fixture that goes inline with the air intake. Was that a factory option or something farmer's/operators added depending on their region? Asking to learn more about...

    Sediment bowl over active

I had a similar issue with my B recently. Like someone mentioned the shut off is really an all the on or all the way off kind of deal. I found when I pulled my fuel bowl assembly off that i had lots of built-up junk above the screen that was preventing the shut off from making a good seal. That...

    Farmall H Horsepower upgrades

As I was browsing the internet tonight, I came upon this article that caught my eye. To quickly summarize it suggests you could gain power in a H by simply swapping in the carburetor and intake manifold from a 300. At this point I'd input Tim "The Tool Man" Taylor grunts. I'm curious if any of...

    Farmall H Horsepower upgrades

I can't argue with the logic in buying the tractor originally designed with the power to do the job you're trying to accomplish. And I'm sure it's possible with the right amount of effort, research, and especially money to make an H have the same horsepower as a stock M. I'm not about to go...

    Farmall H Horsepower upgrades

I suspect their reasoning/thought process is bigger carb and a bigger manifold would allow more fuel and air thus more power. But I could be wrong, and I also don't have these "upgraded parts" or the stock parts at hand to be able to measure them for comparison. I wouldn't put it past someone to...

    VAI distributor to magneto conversion

I have a VAI that has a ignition coil setup that I'd be interested in converting to use a magneto. My understanding is that because the tractor did not come this way from the factory that I would need both the magneto and adapter plate. Am I reading what has been answered previously correctly...
