    How much for a clutch?

And,,,, now I'm back to farming the job out. But - all good info on the freeze plug and ring gear. Glad I started this thread before digging in to it.

    How much for a clutch?

I think you guys are convincing me. So, I knock some wedges in the front axle to keep it from flopping. I can make a cradle stand for the back area of the engine, and use the floor jack on the trans side. Unbolt, slide the trans back on the floor jack, leave the front just sitting on it's cradle...

    How much for a clutch?

This might seem kinda weird, but I'd be money ahead to just buy the tractor splitting kit for $1000 and do it myself, then re-sell the tractor splitter after I'm done DIY job. I wonder if someone would give me $500 for the tractor splitter used only once. Do the YT clutch kit, some fluid...

    How much for a clutch?

What's up with the starter ring gear? Is it a common wear item on the 172 engine? Will plan to do the fluids when I do the clutch. That part I can drain on my own. I just don't want to do the heavy lifting part of the job.

    Farmall C first start

How did you unstick it? Rebuild, tow and clutch, hammer, pry bar? I have a stuck WD engine. Thinking of jerk towing it back and forth in 3rd gear.

    ford 841 power master

No PS, no deal. I paid $2700 for a 961 about 5 years back with a small loader. The paint on the tires tells a tale, and it's not good.

Ford 641 Carburetor Float, Has Me Pulling My Hair!

I've used the erasure end of a pencil or pen. Taper it to a modest cone, chuck the pencil in a drill and use a little toothpaste on it. Spray with carb cleaner, and the seat should look shiny after a few spins.

Old Super 55 Oliver gas engine..

Straight 30wt or 40wt depending on the temp of the environment. A little ZDDP additive would help. Modern straight weight oils are far better than was avail when the tractor was first built. If you think it's pretty loose, use a mix of 30 and 40wt. I think the other products are just a form of...

    How much for a clutch?

I found a shop here local that does work on older units. I sent them a job description and waiting on labor price.

    How much for a clutch?

Oye, W VA and Mt Vernon WA are a long way from the Republic of Texas. I'm going to call around tomorrow. I think there's a shop out to the east of me that works on older stuff like I have. I'll likely order the kit from KY clutch. Sounds like good folks.

    How much for a clutch?

Yeah, mine's a cheap junker loader. I plan to remove it before sending it off. I have a lift to remove it, and then roll it out of the way. That'll be pretty simple. It's the splitting that I don't want to get into. I can't imagine a New Holland dealer will want to work on it. If they did it...

    How much for a clutch?

It's a two stage. I have an independent PTO drive at the bottom of the clutch. Is there anything I could do to bring the cost down aside from removing the loader? It looks like they use a couple of skids to hold each end of the tractor as it splits. Maybe I can find a shop that already has that...

    How much for a clutch?

My 961 clutch is starting to slip on big loads in 2nd. I have a crappy loader on the tractor. I'm not going to split it myself so I'd like to get some general idea on how much it'll cost to have the loader taken off, split it, repl the clutch plate, redo the pressure plate and assemble it all back.

    Left-turn motorcycle collisions

I loved riding MCs since I was about 10. Always had some kind of bike in San Diego where I grew up. Now, the distractions from phones has me scared to get back out there. I'd love to have a vintage bike for a weekend ride. I'm out in the country, so the roads aren't that busy. But it only takes...

Oh,,,, That's why it's leaking. Too big a job for hobbyist?

Well, I don't know why the machine was out of service. It could be the chains were jumping. This is partially supported by the three bottom bolts broke off the hub at the chain box inner plate. That's just the kind of stress chain jumping would cause. I've not run it yet since purchase. I still...

Oh,,,, That's why it's leaking. Too big a job for hobbyist?

I would presume the delrin block would go on the slack and not the tension side. Also, not going to dump the clutch in reverse ever or maybe break the ring or pinion as it walks away. I'll have to measure what I can get in there. I'm thinking a block about 1" wide, and ~4-5" long, depth doesn't...

Oh,,,, That's why it's leaking. Too big a job for hobbyist?

Good thinking, but no - there's no manual tensioner anywhere. Sprocket to sprocket direct.

Oh,,,, That's why it's leaking. Too big a job for hobbyist?

I was thinking of some kind of tension method, but not hardwood. Does that work? If I put a Maple block on the slack side of the chain, what happens when I go in reverse? I guess would need to be very gentle in reverse gear and make sure the wood block was secure against the wall of the chain...
