I am replacing syncro top shaft and have removed the shifter rail but unable to get syncro shifters out. Seems like I may need to remove shifter shaft that goes thru the housing and shift cam. I have the nut off inside of shaft but how do I get it to slide thru housing. Prying doesn’t seem to work, can’t really line anything up on inside tip to drive it out. Any advice welcome! Thanks!

If you’re pulling the top shaft try moving your back bearing race completely out of the way first sometimes like on the tractor that’s here a 4640 it doesn’t have to be out of the way to lift that shaft out.

Will do. I have one of the connecting bolts (the ones that bolt transmission to bell housing from inside transmission housing) in that seems to be in way of the shift cam at top of its movement range and was afraid that might be binding a ltl. I did not drive the bearing cup at rear of top shaft all way out of housing so I’ll try that. Thank you!!

You need to have the shifter cam in the lowest position, and the shifter can come off. No need to remove the shifter cam.
