1270 Case - Agri King Tractor - PTO issue

I have an issue with a '76-78' 1270 Case Agri King tractor ... in that the PTO lever (inside the cab) doesn't move forward or otherwise to engage the PTO (push as hard as you want on it will not budge) ... is there a safety lever/switch that controls that ... it worked fine when we got it two years ago ,,, the tractor hasn't been used in a while ... it has a 3pt snowblower on it ... and last year in MN was very mild ... it was run only once it later February of 2024 ... the PTO lever moved and worked at that time to run the blower now when we came to use it - it's basically frozen in place?

Does anyone have an idea of what the issue may be?

Thanks, Allen

That's likely the cable. Pull the pin at the other end and see what moves. It's only hooked to a valve, so it's not likely that is the issue, but starting there will tell

Thank you (!) .. that would be a better case scenario ... the tractors 20 miles away at this point ... I will check that when I get back out there.

Hello Case1270, welcome to YT! Here is a link to the manufacturers on line catalog.
CNHI Case 1270 PTO control diagram
Secondly, here is a factory parts catalog modified by a larger dealer in PA. Messick Case 1270 PTO control diagram It will give you a price much easier than CNHI. My guess is you will need to replace the cable, which I believe is PN A63593. I believe the same cable is used for all regardless of year or serial number range. If you web search that PN you will find it cheaper on Amazon.
Those links will let you view all the parts diagrams for your tractor. In both cases you need to get serial number off your tractor so you are in the right serial number break section. To get in right SN break section in the CNHI book click the to CaseIH logo and then select it from the list. At that point go to the “Search Parts Catalog” box and type in 1270. At that point you select the correct SN range. The catalog has just recently became very persistent about selecting a dealer. What I have found is if the dealer you select doesn’t have the part in stock you can’t see the price. It used to be you could view a price without selecting a dealer but I don’t think that is allowed anymore. For a rookie it is nice to use the CNHI catalog because it has preview diagrams to help you select the area you are trying to find parts in. The “Functional Group” and the “Diagram” coincides with the Messicks catalog.
In the Messicks catalog click the Messicks logo, then in the “Shop for Equipment Parts” list click CaseIH. Then in the Parts Diagrams by Model box type 1270, and again you will get the SN range to select.

I'm with Jon, and most of the time the cables will not free up. Just have to get a new cable for it. IF you had a neighbor or can get the length ahead of going out there you could probably pick one up at a good parts house or a truck parts house for semi equipment . They would have generic cables if you could use one they would probably be cheaper. They will have them in various lengths also.

Bunker Hill Cables is another source many recommend. I believe they will make custom cables to your specs if needed. They list the Case A63593 for about $94.00. Also the end clevis is shown as available. if needed, for about $21.00.

If it was easy to move the last time you used it I will guess it is not the cable seized. I have had the pin at the bottom of the lever have the cotter pin come out and the pin slide and get caught on the body or frame. not sure if it was the pto or hyd that did that. Definitely worth looking at before buying a new cable.
