135 will sputter out when choke is pressed in.

Evening everyone,

I worked on the tractor today and got it to fire again. Basically I didn't get the points set correctly and lo and behold the thing was out of gas.

I started it up to get the oil warmed up however when I press the choke in some what it will sputter out and die.

I shot two videos with my phone and hopefully this will help as you can clearly hear it (thought not as tinny) and the one video I try and explain what is going on and what I am doing to it.

How do I get it so that the tractor will not cut out when I attempt to push the choke back in?

Chris i have not watched the video but running an
older machine out of gas very well could have sucked
in debris from gas tank. You may have to take off
sediment bowl from tank it can clog the reserve pipe
that flows in to glass. How much gas did you put
back in? Try taking the plug out of bottom of carb
and wait 2 minutes and see if gas flow stops
 
If you have to run the choke closed or part way closed to keep it running then it is not getting enough fuel. What have you tried so far with the carburetor? Can you verify that when you remove the fuel line from the carb and open up the valve at the tank that you get a steady stream of fuel out the end of the fuel line? If not then check the sediment bowl screen for dirt/grit.
If you are getting a steady stream of fuel then your problem more than likely is in the carburetor. Has it been cleaned or rebuild recently?

I tried adjusting the needles. I'll check the to
see what kind of flow I get when I get back home
from TSC. I did have the carburetor rebuilt back
in June but that rust on the carburetor is from
fuel leaking out.

When I got it home from the shop in June it ran
well and I could push the choke in but 80-90o is
different than the 40oF right now.

Definitely check the fuel flow, without enough you won't get it to run right for sure.

All I have to do to my 202 for changes in weather from 70-80° down to around 20 or even colder is to open up the high speed needle maybe a quarter turn. I was plowing a little snow last night (around 14°F) and it was sputtering when under load when the governor kicked in. I opened the needle about a eighth to a quarter of a turn and it ran smooth.

I'm not familiar with the carb on a 135 but it looks a lot like the one on my 202. Do you have instructions on properly adjusting it?
