135 z145

Any one care to tell me how to drop the oil pan on my 135 with Cont. z145 ?
Before I start unbolting stuff I want to make sure what I'm getting into. It looks like I have to remove the large bolts to the front end.
I am assuming I can drop it without totally disassembling the whole tractor.
I need to remove the oil pump as Jerry mt told me to.
I tried engine flush and 10w30 but still have too much oil pressure.


I am going to order a manual from here (YT), but if some one could help me out, so I can work on it tonight it would be much appreciated..

Hi hd5, if the continental is anything like the perkins as far as the front end goes, then you will have to take those big bolts out of the front end. I have photos and knowledge of the perkins pan but not the continental. I had to support the weight of the tractor under the bell housing as I removed the front end. I did a complete motor rebuild, so I took everything apart. Some guys say that they somehow leave the front end in place and just remove the bolts and drop the pan that way. I guess if you tried it that way, you would have to support the front end as well as the bell housing. I can see where leaving the front end in place will make things a little trickier, but it sounds like it can be done. I would take lots of pics if you can before you start so you have some reference if needed. Post one here before you begin so we can see what your up against. Might not help much, but hers a couple of pics of the perkins version with the front end on and off, and of the pan off so you can see the bolt pattern. The continental front and rear bolt patterns may be simular. Good Luck, TB

Thanks for the pictures Texas B, I know I am going to wait for the book now.

It looks like the oil pan is a major component of the tractor. I think the rest of the tractor is built around the oil pan !!

Yea hd5, the pan is part of the frame so to speak. Do you have any pictures you can post the tractor? I am interested in seeing what the cont version looks like (motor wise I mean) Thanks, TB

Be patient! Wait for factory shop manual before you try to take the pan off. It will give you step by step instructions on how to do the job correctly and safely.
