1550 throw out bearing and pto

Last summer the clutch on the 1550 suddenly got harder to push, really had to push hard to get it to release. Pulled the motor and hydra power today and split it. The throw out carrier was tight on the shaft and after I got it off there was light rust on the tube and inside the carrier. The throw out bearing spins good but has some side to side movement. Thinking I should replace the bearing, clean up tube and carrier with emery paper and lube it good. Plain grease or something special? The seal on the pto shaft is leaking, inside of pto housing is wet with oil. What’s the best way to get it apart to replace the seal? Pictures probably aren’t the best. Chris

No trick to the PTO clutch. I had to go all through mine. Needed new discs, splines worn badly, the center plate was warped and blued and the three tiny springs were gone or broken, shims not even. I would tear it all apart and get all that oil off and new discs if they're oily. There's a large seal for the bearing in the splt housing. The big snap ring has a tapered side to go in the groove. It will not go in if it's backwards.
