16 gauge mechanic wire to tie connecting rod

I am putting together my 47 A connecting rod on the right side of the engine. The parts book shows 18 inches of 16 gauge wire (Item 6 on Page 16 of my book) to put through the connecting rod bolts and the nut.
No luck finding it locally. Do any of you have a source?

GOOGLE "Dorman 10171 Mechanics Wire 16 Gauge", many sources for under ten bucks.

Or, 'most any local auto parts store that is a Dorman reseller should be able to get it for you.

I’m not very familiar with model “A” tractor details, but it appears to me that the connecting rod bolts are to use cotter pins (item #28). I believe the safety wire (#6) is to be used on the bolts (#5) that attach the R.H. main bearing housing to the main case. Notice the #5 bolts are identified as “drilled” (to accept the safety wire).

It appears that Deere’s practice was to use some type of positive lock on fasteners that were hidden and inaccessible and which would cause a major problem if they came loose. If the fastener used a nut, they would use a slotted nut with a cotter pin through the bolt shank. If the fastener was a bolt that screwed into a tapped hole (without a nut), they would use a bolt with a hole drilled across the head and use safety wire. And sometimes bent-up lock plates would be used under bolt heads to prevent them from backing out.

I much prefer using loctite in place of the wire and cotter pins. Especially connecting rods. Most times the nut slots don't line up with the hole when properly torqued.
