I am looking at purchasing a very nice 1976 diesel 175 with the later model Perkins 4.248 motor. Does anyone have any first hand information as far as dependability, fuel efficiency, etc. concerning this model? Any information, good or bad would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have over 50 AC's and the 175D is one of my favorite tractors. I use it in my business and it gets about 150 hours a year running a 6' rotary field mower and box blade. It averages around 1 gallon per hour fuel consumption....I've never had a tractor as trouble free and economical @ around 65HP! If it runs smooth, steers good, and doesn't jump out of gear go for it!

Thanks alot for the reply Eldon. I really appreciate the information. This 175 has around 3000 hours with perfect sheet metal and looks almost new. It starts and runs great and doesn't jump out of any gear. Needless to say I purchased the tractor and I am exicted to start working with it. Thanks again.

The AC 175 is a good tractor. I have been running one for 10 years now without complaint. The Perkins diesel is economical and reliable. Where I am in NE Ohio they seem to sell cheep. I guess the folks here like green, blue and red more than orange - unless it is Kubota orange. Most parts are available at AGCO dealer. At 62.5 HP they are a lot of tractor for the money.
