I have an old style 88 standard. There is an adjustment to the gear box under the radiator. I adjusted mine all the way. It helped but there is still some slop. I can’t remember what I did but I’m pretty sure it’s an eccentric type shaft or bushing. I think I found how to adjust it in the manual.

The Bearings for the Worm Gear Shaft are Timken Number 21BC-24 and as far as Seals there was only Felt Seals Installed originally.
I would Measure up the Shafts and Bore sizes to see if You can procure a modern Lip Seal to Replace those.
All Bearings and Seals that I have needed for My Super 77 Standard Restoration Project I have Procured from Applied Industrial Technologies.
Failing that if You have anything really Worn out, I dismantled a 77 this Summer and still have all the Steering Gear.

I had to bore the housing on the pitman side to get a modern lip seal to fit. I was able to find one that fit on the worm shaft side. I got my seals from The O-Ring Store.

Pitman shaft seal part # 131822TC This will only work if you bore the housing.

Worm shaft seal part # 081737TC

Oliver owner,Gearbox you are showing is not a 77 standard.Agco parts book shows a lip seal and 2 felt seals for worm shaft. Shows one felt seal where shaft comes out top of gearbox. Only wondering about seals and maybe bearings.Gears appear ok but gearbox leaks oil.

That Steering Box appeared on Standard 77's Late '51 until the end of Production in the '52 Model Year.
Sorry, I did not see the lip Seal in the Exploded View.

I procured Seals that Fit without Boring anything. I will have to find the Part Numbers.
