1950 8n conplete engine rebuild only have 10# psi

everything inside new except cam and lifters machine shop said within specs. Could something be wrong inside governor where pressure is bleading off. I rebuilt this for my father 90 birthday as he had over 50 years it looks like new. I'm a good mechanic and i'm going nuts! Help!!!
Did valve seats get replaced? Valve spring condition! Valve lapping! Cam lobe measurement? Are the openings of the piston rings offset? You might have already checked these things. Just food for thought

Check where the oil pickup tube connects to the oil pump. Make sure it's not loose and sucking air.

For all thats been following this is what happened. Removed pump made in turkey gears worn after 5 min run time also main shaft pulling out of pump gear. everthing pressed together at machine shop and assy lube on gears. So i had shop reinstall old gears as they were within specs installed . Found a original filter housing installed with ford restrictor that Fritz suggested fired up 80psi woops took out restrictor 40 psi! thanks all that chimed in ! ps the machinest and i think drive gear may not had the correct pitch pulling itself apart.
I think there is a lot of guessing and way to many variables here.

I have done dozens of these pumps and the only issue ever has been some cheap pump gears that are undersize on the face width. They produce anemic oil pressure and lose prime. As a result I check every kit I buy the minute I get it.

I just ran out out of the APN6000B kits and had to order more. I was shocked to see the price on the oil pump kits has doubled and is now close to $120!! RAP is selling what looks like a TISCO/SPAREX kit for $57 so I ordered it. We shall see what shows up.

I am curious. What are the gear "specifications" you referenced and where did you find them?

Dan
