2440 fan belt replacement

Trying to replace the fan belt on my son’s 2440. We have the coupler disconnected but can’t pull the coupler half and the rubber cushion out like it says in the owners manual. I’ve searched and can’t find any post on anybody changing the fan belt on this particular tractor or found one with the particular coupler design. I’ve attached a pic from JDPC. 3 & 4 are the parts we are trying to remove

You didn't say if you loosen the two clamp bolts on the pump end to slide it towards the pump? I seem to remember loosening the pump on one to get a bit more as well. I think I just forced it a bit and didn't loosen the tubes. It was close.

Are you talking about the bolt at 6? I did not. If I loosen the bolt at 6 will that give me more room? I completely removed the bolts at 5. I was working in the dark and didn’t see that I could do that

There will be 2 bolts at 6 one on each side. Then the coupler should slide toward the hydraulic pump just enough with the help of a prybar pushing coupler forward.

The capscrews are #6, the same size at the adapter (#4) and on the pump end of the shaft (#5). I believe when you say 6 you do mean the pump end of the shaft and yes loosen those so you can slide the shaft as far towards the pump as you can to gain some room. You may need a bar to move it. And as I posted before I have loosened the 4 pump mounting bolts before on one. Keep watch that the end of the shaft is not hanging on the sides of the hole in the pump mount, if you loosen the pump
