et al,
I'm rebuilding a '47 Super A and noticed the new cylinder liners are 0.005" proud to the block deck. To anyone's knowledge, will this affect the sealing and performance of the head or should I have the 0.005 surfaced off?

Sleeves are supposed to be "proud" of the block by a few thousandths to aid in gasket sealing and holding the sleeves down tight.

I don't have the "spec's" for your engine at hand, but 0.005" is probably not unreasonable.

My book shows .000-.006 for the 113 and 123. You should be good.

Yep that’s perfect. Liner protrusion would be what that’s called that’s how it crushes the head gasket in the right spots.
