As some of you may remember, I have been trying to resurrect a former Highway Department cast
off Oliver 550 these past 18 months. Poor thing was scheduled for scrap. I never tried to redo
an Oliver before, and this looked to be the ultimate test. I recently got it up and running
after a fashion. I found that while I could put the gear shift into all gears solidly, neither
2nd gear, or 4th gear responded. I'm a little spooky of even looking at any transmission so I'm
wondering if one of you Oliver guys might know if this is something elderly Olivers fall victim
to either from age or abuse. I have a long road to finish this old fellow and I'm really hoping
this is not a major issue, all ideas and suggestions will really be appreciated
