550, what's this thing?

On the gas tank side of the instrument cluster there's a rectangle box with a lot of wires going in/out of it. It's at the top of the frame and I'll have to remove it to get to the instruments I'm (trying) to replace.
This thing had a Krylon overhaul and everything's green, including all the wiring. I'd like to know what it is before I start taking wires off of it.

Thanks !!

It's a small rectangular box in the center under the hood?? If so, it's the buzzer for oil pressure light.

That will be it! Owner says it's never buzzed and light's never come on either when ignition is on before start. Will the light work if the buzzer's kaput? If the light will work if the buzzer does not, is it likely that the sender is the problem?

Thank you for posting. I have a working buzzer that Id like to remove from the equation. Wondering if connecting the wire from oil sending unit, to power source, to oil indicator lamp will work and still provide ability for oil lamp to illuminate if there is low oil pressure.

I cut the buzzer out of the equation on my 550 with a simple wire from ignition switch to light to oil sensor. No oil pressure the sensor is grounded and light works. Oil pressure pushes plunger and ground is lost and no light. I think I want to replace the light system with a real oil pressure gage because my sensor seems to be unreliable which I blame on crud collected after all these years in the spring-loaded sensor.

When I rebuilt my 550 I noticed that the buzzer had been removed. I bought another one from my local Oreilly auto parts - brand: Cole Hersee, part# 4099, $15. It buzzes when you turn the key on and is loud enough to hear with the engine running. When I idle my tractor down very low the light and buzzer start to come on. Good luck.
