885 water pump doughnut gasket sealer

Working on the neighbors 885 . We are replacing the rings and head gasket , etc .

There is a doughnut gasket between the water pump and head . We are not removing the water pump . When we put the head back on is there anything special we need to do on the water pump to head gasket / rubber doughnut . Use sealer or no sealer ? Which type ? I know some things that seem simple can be a problem .

new donut on a clean block and clean water pump should be OK. A thin skim of silicone on both iron surfaces is what I do and is good insurance that you don't have to do the job again.


If the tractor hasn't had a water pump yet, it would be a good time to do it.
