Hey everyone, I'm new here so please forgive anything should be common sense. I have taken ownership of my late grandfather-in-law's Case DB 885G tractor. For the past two years, I have driven it sparingly and tried to at least crank her up every chance I get. A few times I would crank her up she started just fine, but the throttle was stuck wide open. I had to turn the engine off. I eventually realized the throttle butterfly in the carburetor was stuck wide open (or closed?) and the hand throttle wasn't budging it.
Now that I have the throttle butterfly loose, it doesn't move in conjunction with the rest of the linkage. In the attached images, I have a red arrow, red circle, and blue square. If anyone has advice or answers on these next questions I would greatly appreciate it. The tractor still starts great, and I can push the throttle butterfly with my hand and it works fine too, but there isn't any continuity between the hand throttle and the throttle butterfly.
Please be advised that the first picture is a close up of the linkage. This is a more recent photo and the throttle butterfly (blue square) is not connected to the circled part. The butterfly is pushed to the idle position here. The second photo is an earlier photo when the butterfly was stuck, but I believe the same problem existed then. Additionally, the triangular piece to the left of the circled part is part of the foot throttle linkage that I do not have set up nor care to.
First question is what is the part called in the red circle? I feel that this isn't moving properly with the hand lever. The curved part that is attached to the spring will "bottom out" when the hand lever is pushed all the way UP, but when it gets pulled down the circle part slips off and the blue squared area stays in one position.
Secondly, the red arrow, which is linkage for the hand throttle, I feel like should move that spring a little easier. I'm not entirely sure how much leverage the linkage and springs should engage here.
Lastly, when the hand lever is all the way down, the circle part comes out, extending the spring where the blue square and throttle butterfly are. Shouldn't the throttle be in the idle position like this? Could that spring be worn out and not be strong enough to pull the butterfly in the idle position?
