8n won't crank. Bad starting solenoid?

I searched through the previous posts and I can't seem to find the same set of problems.

I recently rebuilt the steering box and tried starting it. I was having trouble keeping it on and running but it would crank over normally. Then it started to make a clicking sound when I tried to start it. Now nothing happens when I try to start it. Hitting the starting motor does nothing.

It's a 12v conversion. The battery has 12.6v. it seems to be connected properly. It's grounded and gets 12.6v to the middle bolt and furthest right bolt on the starter solenoid.

Jumping the larger bolts on the starter solenoid does nothing, there is no spark.

Grounding the middle bolt does nothing.

The connection from the starting button to the starter solenoid is still good.

Jumping the ignition switch does nothing and there is no spark anymore.

The resistor does not get hot when the key is turned on anymore

I checked all the wiring and it looks correct.

If you jumped across the 2 big studs on the solenoid and didn't at least get spark that means you either have a poor connection some place or the starter it self has gone bad. Check all the battery cable connection and if you have a set of jumper cables try going right to the starter stud and see if you at the very least get sparks

What Old said is right on point. It's all about current flow. Your starter takes a lot of current. Your volt meter takes almost nothing. That's why you can read 12.6 volts but because of loose or corroded battery connections there is no current flow.
Is your battery grounded to the steering box? You just had that apart, right?

If anyone comes across this post later and wants a solution.

I replaced the solenoid and was having the same issue. Turns out when I put it back together the oil line that leads to the pressure gauge had the paint chipped off and the middle bolt of the solenoid was grounding on it. I also cleaned all the battery connections and moved the grounding wire to a better spot. Be careful because the tractor would try to start when I tried to connect it to the battery since the solenoid was being grounded. It works now.
