Couple of farm pictures for the ones sweating their behinds off. Lol. I was actually sweating walking out to the cows to start the fire. Been pretty windy and blowing snowing last few days. Today finally quiet and sun out. Gotta keep chugging along is the farm life.

I remember those days, cattle got to be tended; weather immaterial. Today I can't even fit into my insulated coveralls.

When I was young and we had dairy cows we had a couple 50 gallon drums welded together for water a,d it was heated by a kerosene fired heater. Seems like it was always going out. And once a year we had a chimney fire. Then there was keeping the hose to the tank straight enough so it didn't freeze in the low spots.

Many years ago I was pretty young and went to the movies where there was a farm related movie showing. The picture was taken up North during a snow blizzard and "the cows had to be fed". The were flying a C-119 I think is the nomenclature, military Flying Boxcar full of hay out over the frozen tundra kicking the bales out the rear doors and it was working. I'll never forget that movie and the trials and tribulations encountered during bad weather.

Go for the 0w-30 synthetic motor oil. Always use 'arctic grade' oils and hydraulic fluids and 40/60 water/glycol.

-30 degrees? Holy Crap, Where in the seventh circle of Hell is that.

I can't thank God enough that it has been in the 70s and 80s last few weeks.

You Texans don't have any idea what cold is. I've been to Baffin Island in February, you wanna talk cold?
Its certainly not hell but you better know that death awaits the ignorant and unprepared.

The hay drops for cattle sounds like that storm of 1947or49 they had so much snow it took weeks to clean out and lots of people and cattle died from all sorts of issues from lack of food to just plain cold. There is a video story about it on you tube. They give a lot of details and some of the comments sound about right for the times and conditions.

Your right, That's why we live in Texas, besides the fact that it is TEXAS, we like to avoid the unnecessary cold.
Other than being a native Texan, I enjoy the climate here in N. Tx. just fine. Was outside in short sleeves yesterday with the sun shining brightly. I can understand other folks living in other areas too as their birth-right sorta sets the stage for where one will live once able to make their own decisions......did for me.

That sounds like the right time line. For the USAF or Nat. Guard to offer an official aircraft to feed a civilian's cows speaks well of the severity of the season.
