A question about Minnesota Massey Ferguson dealers

I am working on a 180 that I assumed my parents purchased new in 1973 from a dealer in Lecenter Minnesota. I was 6 years old and I think I remember it being delivered. When I checked the serial number it showed it was a1970 model. There are remnants of 3 dealer tags on it. I assume The reference to Stillwater was the dealer that received it new, the Richter reference was the last half of the name of the dealer in Lecenter where we purchased it from, and the Vans represents the local dealer in Essig and later New Ulm, all in Minnesota. My question is, at that time would a 180 have sat on a dealer lot for 3 years before being traded or sold to another dealer, or is it likely that it was used when my parents purchased it.
I understand that this is a question that the answer doesn't really matter, but it puzzles me. Thanks

My guess would be that it was a used tractor. At 3 years old it probably still had fairly shiny paint and may have not suffered to many battle scares at that point. Depending what tractors there were previously on your farm, say the next newest was 10 years old. If so the new big tractor could probably easily impress a 6 year old so getting down to the bottom line of whether it was actually brand new or not probably slid right past you.

The problem with the 180 it does a great job for what it was designed for. But it was not as big as it looked. The 1080 was the same, people thought it should pull as good as a 1100and the 1100 should pull as good as the 1130.😉
