Ploughing match
This is match ploughing to get the perfect finish and the most points. Very competitive, I have done a bit in the past but was nothing like these people. They spend hours modifying their ploughs or buying special ones which are very expensive. I think that competitions should be judged on ploughs that are standard and the skill of the ploughman to get it to perform, but that is just me.
Back in the early part of last century when my father was ploughing with horses, the local ploughmen used to go around the villages on a Sunday afternoon and peek over the hedges, then comment on the work in the pubs in the evening. This has now turned into these ploughing competitions.
