Anti-Virous

I like Malwarebytes Premium, used it for years NEVER had a problem. I prefer it over Norton or McAfee. Give it a try.........

I have been depending on the 'stock' AV and firewall that comes with Windows ever since 7 came out. Both my laptop and desktop are now on 10. No issues with intruders using just Windows Defender. I do have the free Malwarebytes version that gets run once in a while, but it never finds anything.

I see no need to buy an extra that can cause conflicts with the settings.

run MS defender.. its free, its up to date, and they have a real interest in stopping malware on windows. There is a whole bunch of new Linux malware out there now especially recently.

(quoted from post at 04:49:20 06/30/22) I've run Linux on my home PC for about 25 years now. No anti-virus.
Same here: Linux - no antivirus. Not needed. I don't use any anti-virus on my Windoze machines either. Behind a router, which does NAT. Nothing gets in on the original public IP address.
I used to use Norton with good results (before I found out about Linux and a router with NAT.
Most any of the free programs work ok, but don't do as much as the paid versions. The free ones are mostly for occasional home internet users, and not businesses.
Malware is NOT the same as a virus, although the end result is similar. 99% of the Windoze installations use all the same basic programming/code and applications, so relatively easy to target. Most Linux installations use a basic kernel, but most of the other applications are unique to that installation. Many different ways of doing the same thing, e-mail for instance; so if a virus or malware targets one user, the chances of that user infecting other users are slim, as other users are using a different application for the same task.
Also, Windoze has a lot of "junk" that can't be removed or disabled because they are very tightly integrated with the OS. If you don't like something using Linux, one can just uninstall it and use something else, with no effect on the OS at all.
So, whatever works on your system that you are comfortable using, use. zuhnc
