Back after a lot of poking and prodding, 2n sleeves loose

Bring a trailer and you can take it and a vintage correct Dearborn 2 bottom plow and tandem disk harrow home for less than half of what you paid for your Scag. You know that 2N needs a period correct friend....

TOH

Lol. The closest my N will get to a period-correct friend are me and my WD. And your 8N will be worse at trimming around my excessive landscaping than my 2 already is ;). But I feel compelled to point out, my truck gets horrible gas mileage. I will be well past the cost of the Scag by the time I get home with that stuff, unless you have plans to move west and bring all that stuff with you. Not to mention, I'm pretty sure I can't return the Scag now. That, and I never learned how to drive with a trailer.

Dog, I have no issues with your N takes. They are rooted in reality. My N is a big riding mower. I will never ask anything more from it. I will certainly never restore it. That's about at the bottom of my to-do list in life, just below putting a loader on it. Hell, I won't even wash it. I have less than $2k in it, including the rebuild and EI. And that amount is pretty much at a standstill, and has been for several years. I pay for gas and oil for it. It doesn't need much of either.

I measure the sleeves top, center and bottom in 3 places around the sleeve. Average of the 9 gives the size to bore - the press fit. And I would go for a full thousands interferance as those .090 sleeves can take it.
Thank You for the process, just need the measuring devices, and TOH has helped there, Thanks to him and all the others for helping me gather enough info to make a better decision than I was attempting previously. Yes in the long run this whole process may cost a pretty coin or two, that is over a period of 2 years so far and realize that cost is not easily accounted for until all receipts are gathered. The original funds set aside have long evaporated from the account and additional has been spent. Still the largest portion spent was towards the machine shop and additional costs are slowly creeping up to match that amount as I move forward.
Being that I have run this tractor for 18 years and few problems until the oil became an issue, it has saved me an untold amount in those years. 'Cause the way I see it , all the plowing, raking, mowing, tilling and other work was valuable work I could not have done otherwise, especially for 18 years, without the tractor. And that is evidenced by the current condition of the fields without the tractors help going on will be 2 + years now. It is also reflected in my accounts as the flow of funds is not near what it was and with the delays of repair it may be a while before I can see any reversal of that.
