Battery going? Does this pass the smell test?

wow , i didnt think it would take days and pages of posts to do a battery check and still not know if the battey is ok or not. :unsure:it just takes this 50.00 unit to tell you what u wanted to know. how can anyone be without one. checks the battery and charging. fast and easy.
It can tell you it may be bad but it can not tell you its good... $50 for a analog voltmeter that's just lovely when a $5 one will do the same thing. You guys just don't get it proving its bad is the easy part proving it good is the hard part. I am going to take it when your toy checks it good you still have your doubts.

rustred this is not a personal attract your toy checker is a toy and noting else. If you believe otherwise that's OK I would challenge you to prove this otherwise. I don't think you will ever find anywhere on the net your toy is a valid test for a standardized automotive battery other than what the manufacture of this tool would want you to believe.

Yogi said it best 'You don't know what you don't know" battery testing is written in stone it has been for 100 years. Your tool can not prove a battery is good that is the part that you and others need to get in your head and that is why these post go on forever. Instead of just typing a repliy outer questions need to be asked the #1 piece of info needed is what is the voltage static and dynamic. Your vehicle is the load use it to your advantage what you don't know will become obvious. : )

It must not be simple as post like this run on forever and normally with no simple test preformed. It is simple so simple the process has been lost in time. That's why I stated folks have been dumbed down they put their belief in a toy tool when the diagnostics is just so simple.

Diagnostic are not always about finding a bad part a good diagnostic approach also confirms parts that are good.
All my customers are A customers I ran off B's and C's. Life is good. This is why there are so many bad shops they spend to much time on B and C customers so much time they become a C shop at best. Their patterns are all C they never learn to offer A work they believe everyone is a C.

If they survive long enoufh just maybe they come to realize cutting corners for B's and C's are costing me and run them off.

I am not your average shop owner I Vet my customers if we don't seam like a fit siranora. If any of my customers read this they love me I love them if that's not OK with them they can go somewhere else : ). YES I AM HERE FOR THE MONEY.
The 'ell is an A, B, or C customer? Is there some official definition of this written down somewhere to reference, or is this something you made up?

It tells me the static voltage and cranking voltage. It tells Me the charging voltage. It tells me the voltage after a 10 second load and if if the battery is staying within the rated cca’s . Tells me if the battery is weak or ok. So it does what I need to know. I can make a decision if the battery is junk, weak or good. I’ll keep using it. Thank you. And as I was saying to the op it eliminates guessing if you have a dead battery or a poor connection.

Ok cool lets find out what we don't know.

Lets test a battery with your toy hit the load switch it reads 11.5V is the battery good.

Anybody still use SG testers for electrolyte?
In my case a big NO, and as to why I already know the battery is on its way out it would be a waist of time to test the electrolyte. Its only going to prove what I already know. If I did not have a means to bring a battery to its knees then yes I would take the time to test the electrolyte. Its a test to find what you don't know.

I had a nearly identical situation a few years ago. Battery was about 5 Years old, thought I could coax a few more miles out of it. But the last time it decided it had had enough I was on the road and ran across the street for a new battery from Napa. No testing, nothing. Needed a battery. No issues for at least 4 years now.

Sure but most batteries nowadays I am denied access.

Right now 3 of 4 of my 12V Bats are not sealed.

SG tells you right away if there is a bad cell.
