Bearing replacement on a "Woods" belly mower

I have a 1952 8N with what we've always thought was a 5' Woods belly mower. One of the rear pulley bearings went out. I don't see any numbers on the bearing. It's 1/2" ID and about 1-7/8" OD. Bearing is straight-walled, not spherical. Woods doesn't have any mowers this old on their website that I can find.

Other than taking the other side apart and looking for a number on that bearing, does anyone have a suggestion, or manual, or part number, that might be of help? Thanks in advance.

Tom

It sounds like you have the bearing out. Take it to a parts store or bearing house (like Motion) and they can measure it and match it up.

I live in a small town, but near to three big cities. Guys, what are your favorite "parts stores"?
My favorite will do you no good, as it is not a chain in your area. Beyond that, if they don't have it and can't get it to meet my time frame, then it is checking NAPA and others further away. Then there are specialty parts stores for the trucks and trailers, bearing houses and hydraulic shops as well as the dealers. If you deal with much equipment, you will find you need a number of "favorites". JMHO

Find a bearing supply, they can measure it and sell you a replacement. Any city should have one. My only parts store that is worth bringing a bearing or seal to for a match is a local privately owned store. If the owner is there he can find what I need, if he's not I wasted my trip. I'm sure it's the same story everywhere and as we all get older and fade away so goes all of the knowledge.

Hello, Tom F. and others:
For what it's worth, I have an International Cub LoBoy with a belly mower. it has two idler pulleys at the rear of tractor below the PTO pulley. I talked to a friend at a local bearing store (formerly Dixie Bearings, I don't recall the current name). I showed him the pulley with the bad bearing still in it he said "no problem". When my part came in, it was a complete idler pulley including bearing. The whole thing was in a box with a Timken name and number. So you never know!
