Beginning fixing up an 830

Well after many years of procrastination, my son and I started to poke at some of the things wrong with my big toy. We have an 830 high crop. The first of many many questions is a source for the indicator lights for oil, filter, and is the third the charging indicator or water temp? The other question is under the fuel bowl, under the tank, and next to the throttle rod is a small block with wires attached. Would I guess circuit breaker? Thank you all in advance.

John Saili has the indicator lamps at Saili equipment. Find him online. I have used him for a lot of my 830 parts. He has most everything for these. I also have an 830 high crop. And yes, I believe it is a circuit breaker. I will get the cover off mine and verify for you. Or some of the guru's might chime in for sure. Nick

Thank you so much! I will call him tomorrow! May I ask where you are located with yours? I am in MA.

I am in Eastern Oregon. Get yourself a list, John has just about everything for Case. Are you just starting to fix up your 830? I have been on mine about 8 years. a piece here and there and of course it still has to work around the farm, it isn't going to get the parade treatment! Lol! One day when I get another one, maybe. It's just such a good tractor, others might not muster up. Nick

Also mine is a 1966 830 ck com. If you need pictures or any info I can try to get them for you off mine. Nick

Here is a wiring diagram for the 830 tractors with the Gasoline engine, it was posted years ago on this forum. Hope it helps, I am going to try to find out what that circuit breaker does, because if it is in the charge wire it creates a problem on an alternator conversion. Anyway hope this helps.

It appears to be in the big red wire that feeds the whole tractor, it is#1 on each side of the breaker and comes back to the Ignition switch to feed the tractor, It is not showing how the charge wire from the generator gets back to the starter but there is not any other wire coming from the gen to the starter so it must charge back through the breaker. The problem with that is that modern alternators as we convert to are capable of a minimum of 65 A, maybe more, you can see the problem of a 65 alternator trying to charge a battery through a 30 A breaker if that is what its rating is. The breaker could break from charge current and potentially cause a charging system problem. On My own tractors I run an 8 Ga. jumper right from the alternator output directly to the starter big solenoid post with the battery cable, that in no way changes the basic tractor wiring but takes the charge load off the existing wire and breaker, the breaker still serves its protecting the tractror function but does not handle charge current any longer. A low set of batteries can draw a very high charging current so my way removes the breaker from the charge side of the circuit. This circuit is ok for tractors without an Ammeter, but I am being specific to the tractor we are working on.
