Hi everyone!

I'm Jim Bill.

I'm currently working on a land clearing project and would love to hear your insights on using tractors and attachments for underbrush removal and general land clearing. What implements have worked best for you, brush hogs, root rakes, or something else? Any advice for clearing land efficiently while preserving the soil for future use?
Thanks in advance! Looking forward to learning from your experiences.

Lots of variables, how big of brush? Brush hog up to 3-4". How big of tractor? Wheel tractor? loader? Do you want to plant to pasture or knock down the brush and let it rot or pile to burn. I have used a box blade with scarifier teeth set all the way down after brush hog. Just rip roots and stuff, did not let dirt build up in the box blade. I have used a small 3pt ripper (cultivator) to collect brush around burn piles. It can make a tangled mess if branches are long. I have used a front loader, took the shield off and used the manure forks, so the dirt fell out. Easiest was have someone come in with a forestry mulcher attachment on a skid steer and go from there, if any thing more....James
