So I just bought a 643 Bobcat, and it does have
have aux hyd"s but I"ll be darned if I can figure
out how to actuate them. It is not side ways on
one of the sticks as it is on others as I have
tried that. Unless something is froze up....

Also, it seems like one of the drive chains may be
skipping a tooth or "ratcheting" when I push it
real hard into a pile of dirt. Not knowing how
this is setup, is there a way to tighten the
chains? Or is this a symptom of worn parts?

Ant Bobcat experts out there?

Thanks,

JF

The only way to activate the aux hydraulics on a 643 to my knowledge is sideways movement of the right steering lever. Can you hear the chain skipping? Tip the cab back and remove the steering lever mechanisms and pull the center cover off of of the chain case. Look in and see what is going on. When you tip the cab back you can check out what is going on with the aux hyds mechanism. Bobcats use an endless drive chain on both sides to drive the wheels and if the chaincase is kept full of oil they hardly ever give problems. You may also be able to take the brake pedal out of the way and pull the plate off the chain case out where your feet are to look at the chains, but I doubt it. I dont think there is a way to tighten the chains. they are a pre stretched chain. Let me know how you make out on it.

Thanks for the reply. In doing a bit of research, I have gathered that it is highly unlikely that the drive chain is skipping. With that said, something is making a noise when it is heavily loaded into a pile. I will continue investigating. I now have what may be an engine oil pressure problem where the light comes on erratically, and various rpm's. I hope it is just a bad sensor but I just picked up a mechanical gauge to prove that out.
