i have a 140 , was 6 volt converted to 12 volt.
removed the alternator and lo and behold the mounting bolt was broken off at the block.
a friend of mine got the stub out and it is 1/4 inch in diameter.
does not seem like this is enough strength. so I plan to replace with larger bolt.
studying up a plan to do this. may have to drill out the 1/4 hole for the new bolt.

You're holding an alternator not trying to pull a plow with it. I would not worry about it.

i have yet to see 1/4 bolts holding an alternator. they are 3/8, 1/4 inch bolts will never hold an alternator with a tight belt charging.
