Brake assembly grease, is it "special" ?

Yup all of it at some point in time sticks and wears them out on one side. I'll keep my drum brakes. Never had a problem with the old drum brakes on the semi either. Could put something like about 5-700,000 miles on those old drum brake shoes on the semi and change both shoes and drums at that time. Along with all the hardware to them. Calipers and slides all lock up with rust corrosion and all sorts of junk. Poor set up no matter how you look at it.

Hmm. I always thought that recommendation applied to wheel bearings on vehicles with disc brakes.
I thought you had already settled this issue. What ever they have in the little dollar packet at the parts counter is the rite grease. We know they would not sale a run of the mill Fitz all grease and always looking out for your best interest.

It goes on as grease it’s got to be grease are is it correct for the application if not the next time you take it apart its coming apart easy are you break out a BFH and beat it off. BTDT and bet others in the trade have also.

In the south rust is not a problem apply the correct grease to the caliper pins and move on with life. Y’all in the rust belt have a different issue every moving part must have a grease used for the application applied to every moving part are it will haunt you. A grease rubber compatible when it contacts rubber and a grease for metal to metal.

A rubber compatible grease may not say put and wash off on exposed areas where a metal-to-metal grease is needed. If you say one grease is all you need you are wrong get over it.

A tip if you take a pin out that has a rubber bushing on it and its stuck are comes out hard if the rubber bushing is not available you will need a brake caliper and hanger. Toyota’s are notorious for this.

Grease I keep four different kinds to use for different applications why would I do that. Cuzz I have been bit and learned the hard way.

Got a brake job to do this weekend. Rotors and pads. Is there anything special about the grease I should put on some sliding parts on the calipers? Parts store I dropped by today didn't have any in stock. I have a few different greases around the garage: Wheel bearing, white lithium, Moly, and general purpose gun grease. Any reason I can't use one of those? Also have some fluid film.
Should use a synthetic hi temp grease

Last week I replaced all Brake Pads,as well as Front Disc Rotors, and Front Struts on my 2017 Buick Enclave. I used as per instructions a silicone based Brake greased supplied by Permatex.
Had new Tires installed, wheel alignment, and drove 2333 miles south to Arizona for the winter. Buick operated perfectly.
