Can you help me ID the year on my VAC Case?

I am working on getting grandpa's VAC going again. He used it for raking hay with a New Holland rolabar, but otherwise it has been stored in a pole shed out of the weather since the early 2000s. I feel like it isn't in terrible shape. The engine is free and will spin, but not enough fire to start. All parts are present. I took the tank off and replaced it with an original in better condition and the carburetor is being rebuilt right now. Anyway, I really love this tractor and I'm curious on about what year it could be?

I read Continental built the engines on the early models, but this appears to have a scant Case logo on the block and I see "VT 328." So, this one is a Case engine. I see this "VT" repeated in other places as well. The tractor also has the eagle hitch. I cannot find a data plate anywhere on this tractor. But based on all of my reading, I believe this is a 1950 or 1951 tractor? My grandpa said he thought it was a 1948 or 1949, so we're down to a few years of possibilities. Does this mean mine is a VAC or the later VAC-12? I can get more information if there's more design variances that would help pin down a year. Thank you in advance.

Some pictures of it would help if you can't locate the serial number on the dash. Try to get the entire machine from all sides in your pictures.

I’m sorry, I took these yesterday before I even thought to look on the dash. I will go back and look though. Here’s what I have this second from yesterday, but I’ll go back for more. Thanks!

Pictures below now. I took them yesterday and did the best I could in the barn. Thanks much. I’ll go look when I get back there.

Yes, and the steering wheel is a bit cockeyed and a series of shafts and knuckles go to the steering gear over the pedestal. The old way might have looked a bit antiquated but It is simpler than the newer system/

I see. Pretty cool this is a remnant of the earlier style right before the transition to the newer began. I appreciate your help. I hope soon I will write a thread that it's cranking.. Then hopefully someday new paint.

If the steering is the same on your vac as it is on the SC I had, you can take it apart at the box at the bottom of the steering wheel shaft and flip a gear over to take the slop out of your steering--if you have any. By the looks of the tractor you probably do. Someone who has one of those please weigh in to say if that works on the vac or not.

I have never driven this tractor, but rode on it when I was a kid. I'm 26 now. My dad remarked very recently on the steering having a lot of play in it, so I'm interested to hear if this method will also work on the VACs.. Do you have a source on a distributor for these? I think the distributor would solve my cranking problem.. I'm also going to replace the radiator and hoses, after I get the fuel tank & carburetor put back on.

Seeing that you have an Eagle Hitch it has to be at least 1949. The conventional steering set up was used until mid 1951. So, you have a 1949, 50 or early 51 model VAC.

I have a 49 VAC and for distributors and parts, I got mine from Willys Distributors. Case used an Autolite/Prestolite distributor very similar to the ones used in the old Willys Jeep
