Changing rear tires on a Farmall super C

Rear tires on my Super C were pretty bad when I bought it about 5 years ago but they held air and I have been using the tractor but wanted new tires. Tires are 36 inch. Bought one last year and the other one this year. Didn't dare to install the tire last year in case I changed one and the other one blew first. Bought both from Miller Tire and since they travel every year to the Canandaqua NY steam pageant they bring the tires with no shipping cost. Shipping cost with tire and new tube would have been almost $200 each. Now its time to put them on. Got the first one off today. Fortunately tires aren't loaded but they still are quite rusty so tomorrow its needle scale, wire brush, rust killer, primer and a top coat on the inside and then the new tire. Then repeat on the other side. Its amazing how the rear tires on an old tractor are easier to get on and off a rim than the the front tire on my garden tractor.

For stem holes I just weld the old hole shut then drill it back out easier than patching if the hole is not big just rusted sharp around the edge. Or if the hole is just a bit big. I have also welded patches in for rusted out spots on rims/wheels. I only bother if they are hard to get or expensive ones. Common wheels/rims are more costly to fix than the wheel /rim is worth. For the last year I have been able to buy some 15and 16 inch tires and wheels for implements or tractors for about 10-20 per with the tires on them ready to go just check the air. Paid something like 60 for a new 7.50-16 this summer. On 6 bolt wheel.
