David Brown 885 gas, oil filter location…

Just bought a David Brown 885 gas tractor, hasn’t ran in over 10 years so it’ll need some work, going to start with fluid and filter changes. It looks like my oil filter is behind the power steering pump? I guess I’ll have to remove the hoses off of it to replace the filter? Any other suggestions or advice for the tractor would be appreciated, thanks! Also are these valuable tractors? I have about $200 in the tractor.

I had an 885 diesel. I took a chance on it at auction. Once I figured out that there was a return spring on the wrong side of a lever arm on the pump it revved up and had plenty of power. It was very inexpensive to operate.

Sister to a 4600.
Although the 4600 puts the steering pump reservoir up front so the filter canister is more accessible. This location lends to the fact that any power steering leaks gets sucked into the radiator to aid in the lubrication of the cooling fins which any owner of a British tractor know critical for optimal operation.
Enough sarcasm. I’ve been satisfied with the 4600 for what I expect it to do. The petrol engine doesn’t seem to be as efficient as the diesel engine. The hydraulics are adequate once you figure out the settings. I learned the water pump on the 2.7L in the 4600 is a bit of a rare beast to find parts for. Hopefully the 2.4 is more available if it comes to that. At $200 you’ve got plenty of value.
