Drywall taping tools

I finally got back to working on the 3rd bathroom that I framed, electrified and plumbed 5 years ago when we added on.
There's still much to do - the shower isn't even started yet but some parts are a given and I know I can tape two of the walls and the ceiling now.
Progress.
I asked about adding a gas line for a stackable W/D a week or two ago.
That's on the other side of this wall.
There are two spaces left in the elec. panel so we've decided to go electric if/when we buy those machines. The water, drain and outside vent are there.
But this is Tool Talk...
Here are a few of my favorite tools from when I was working.
16" Marshalltown trowel, a 6" taping knife - hard to find a USA made one anymore. This one's from china.
And of course, the ubiquitous plastic pail.
Some Durabond 45 too. Still my favorite for taping a bathroom.
This will be a niche with glass shelves.
And a tiny night light behind the soffit at the top.
They're giving us a crash course in Winter this week after a particularly mild one so far.
So not much time in the garage now.
But there's always something to do that's related to tools to keep a guy occupied here.
Jerry

I like a 10 inch knife as well as those. I would add a flexible stick sanding tool that has mesh "paper" with different grits. tool

It's sometimes hard to find the motivation and time to finish a job like yours when it's not a have to finish by a date type. I've got a porch that needs a finish coat put on and I can always find something more important to do.

What do you do just use the 6” trowel to get mud out of the bucket? I know the thing about “old dogs” but I wonder if one of these mud pans would be something you could get used to.
Mud pan
I did a lot of patch repair on my upstairs area and stair wells before I had a guy come in last spring (maybe it has been two years ago already) and paint it. I hate a crappy drywall job. So that is slow going with my particular ways. I like how you can clean off your trowel that the mud is drying down on using the edge of the pan. Mix it back in with your stock to rewet it. Then move on. And I think you can get a pan that will fit a 16” trowel, I think that is a bit wider than what I have. I think my wide one is 14”. I have a bedroom that has a bunch of ripped board skin on from removal of wall paper that stuck very tight. Have to get after that soon. And my one mid-level room has areas where it looks like final coating a tape seam meant. Put some mud on your trowel sling it at the wall. Knock it down and call the painter. I think a kid could have ran his toy tractor and plow on the wall in the wet mud and it would have look as good. Oh the joys of being persnickety!

Ah yes, the miracle of setting type compound. I use the 25min stuff, by the time I've finished a tub full and rinsed it's ready to go back for a finish pass. I also love the self stick fiberglass mesh tape. I still hate taping drywall but those two things make it so much easier to deal with.

I had or maybe have a corner tool. It is not something that pros would use but a handy dandy can save a lot of time in the corners with one.

I had to have all the sizes of knife over the years but mostly used them for soffit work.
For flat work the trowel worked best - at least for me.
Used Red, the secret to skimming is water. For finish coats I have the mud so wet I can scarcely get it onto the wall - or ceiling without it dripping on the floor.
WP6924,
X2 on the fiberglass tape. I always used the heavy stuff that's for cement board . For outside corners and flat work. Had too many failures with the lighter mesh stuff. On my inside corners I still use paper tape.
