early jd 3020 brake valve

Rebuilt early 3020 diesel brake valve already as was leaking by boot. Brakes worked fine before starting this project. After new o ring kit, new rubber boots assemblies, and new guides brakes locked up and wouldn’t release after bleeding per instructions. When release bleed screws brakes release. So believe issue is in brake valve. FYI I did think John Deere ring kit that I put in seemed rubber was harder than should have been. Have a new o ring kit and looking at starting second try.

#1 The first o-ring kit had a few extra o rings/washers. I think 4 of these went to the boots and since I had new operating rod/boots kits wouldn’t have needed. But the top two gasket washers not sure where they go? My new kit doesn’t have these.

#2 the plate that holds rubber boots down was brand new and flat. After trying with first o ring kit it bent up. Any ideas why this may be happening?

Correction to earlier post. I found that the spring for the check valve that goes into the stop wasn’t put in correctly. So this would mean the ball bearing wouldn’t be able to seal the back flow. Still have the top 2 o rings and 2 flat washers in picture that I don’t see where go in the schematics for an early 3020. (Roughly 14.3mm o.d.) I have counted o rings like 8 times and I beleive I replaced all of them. I am wondering if kit AR31946 is meant for several other models and not all washers/ o rings are needed for each model. Anybody have suggestions?

It appears that kit is used in many models including other than just tractors, so there is a good chance it may have a few extra pieces in it.

If you go to JDparts.com you can change the Model to Part number search. Enter that part number and you get a list of models that use that part number. You do have to look at them, as it will add include part numbers with the same beginning sequence, that have a 6th digit.
