Early production anomalies

it is interesting that they had an alternate source for magnetos early on. AC did use WICO on other stuff so not a new supplier to the company. i suspect the FM was a cheaper mag??? = lower priced tractor. so they used them instead.

my Case 800 was not correct but never took it to a show to have anyone check it out and tell me what i already knew. i had it set up to what we needed/wanted to use.
-GM alternator,
-PS pump moved to Right side (to get PS hoses out of the way)
-fenders from a Hesston/fiat ??
-short air cleaner stack (to keep trees from busting the top)
-1030 wheatland dash (modified to fit, tach worked fine)
-extra 800 floor boards mounted on front sides (backwards) for easier on/off and nice to stand on when fueling
-1961 730 dual shifters
-massey combine seat (was on there when i got it)
-homemade 3pt top link (had case optional 3pt arms not eagle kinda rare but i have seen a few)
-lower radiator hose from a Ford van (don't remember which model but it was very close to original set up with a bit of trimming.
-1991 Plymouth Acclaim spark plug wire set

the IH 444 i have now has no modifications other than my wife's granddad had a bumper installed. my FIL had a mechanic put a new aftermarket electric fuel pump on and i think it has the wrong PTO lever. (still trying to figure that one out as it broke off at the shaft and needs replaced/welded again)
I may modify it by adding an oil pressure gage instead of the idiot light. light works but i like knowing what its reading. it has a million hours on it so it has some age.
There's a lot of discussion whether the first true "production year" is '37 or '38 since those made in '37 were nearly hand built and use a different engine. That argument would never stand with automobiles because they changed engines all the time. The '64 Mustang only came with an inline 6, if I remember correctly. It's amazing how some will follow a rabbit trail, just for the chase.

I had a 1964 Mustang with a 289 v8 in it.

You didn't remember correctly.......289 was available in the '64 Stang.

Just an FYI here, the 64 1/2 Mustang was built for a couple of months before the genuine ‘65 Mustangs came out. The 64 1/2 Mustangs were available with a 289. There were some subtle differences between the 64 1/2 and the 65, including that the 64 1/2 came with a generator, while the ‘65 came with an alternator. The 64 1/2 Mustangs were titled as a 65.
 
Yup they really did. Plenty of the 65's and beyond sported the inline 6's but first offering was V8. My first car was a 61 Ford Falcon. The Falcon line was transformed into the Mustang with drive train and suspension and assembly line from the Falcon. I wish I still had that Falcon.

I always liked the '63 Falcon Sprint with the 260 V8 & 4 speed. Friend at college had one & it was sweet!
