The Tractor stops good when the clutch is pushed in but when you try to get it in gear again, the gears grind and won’t go back into gear. Then you have to shut the tractor off to get it back into gear.. Does anyone have any ideas why and how to correct it?

My 14 hp does the same, it helps to mash down the clutch with the inside of your heel and get it depressed a little more.

throttle back to idle. Check pedal travel. Neighbor has a power king and was complaining about clutch. Checked it and he was changing gear with engine wide open. Also needed slight adjustment. Slow engine and shifts perfect.

I put together a basket case 16/14 that came with a new clutch disc and it must have been too thick as I had to put washers under the pressure plate mounting cap screws to get the right function.

Just to add to my post….this is a 4 speed transmission and there is a way to adjust the clutch.
