Farmall 3 Point hitch not lowering completely

Hey guys, I need some help with a 3 point hitch on a 706 I just got. It will only go up and down a couple inches (4-5 inches). When it sits for a couple nights it will slowly go down so I know it’s not jammed in anyway (shown in picture number 3). I was able to reach into the top link and manually lower it with what I believe is the draft control lever(could be wrong with the verbiage) the other day when I was installing a new pto assembly. I made sure the top silver lever (draft control lever) is behind the bottom lever inside the top link. The adjustment screw on the lower lever was all the way out. I adjusted it half way and tried and all the way and tried it (brought the lower lever further toward the draft control lever). Doesn’t appear that the lower lever or upper lever is ever making contact with each other? l have tried the load control lever all the way down (also up a little before it narrows down) and lift lever all the way up and the opposite. Does anyone have any other knowledge on what I can do? Thank you

Well I finally figured it out. Couple people on other threads related that the upper draft arm and lower lever has to touch. I adjusted the screw on the lower arm but still put me about half an inch away. There is a bolt on the bottom left of 3 point hitch that allows you to rotate the bottom axle. Rotating it backwards towards the back of the tractor brought the bottom lever up to the proper position and works now. Thank you for the help and hopefully this helps someone else down the road!

Hello Robby, welcome to YT! Glad you got it to work. I haven’t worked on adjusting one of those, you may have it going up and down which is great if that is all you want to do with it. If you ever want to plow with it and use the 3 point draft control my guess is you need to find a manual and adjust all of that mechanism following the instructions laid out there to get it to respond properly. Enjoy your tractor!

The bolt in your picture should have about 3/8 clearance between the head and the casting. Adjusting the hitch, with the position control handle in the center of the quadrant if you move the draft control all the way to the raise position the hitch should come all the way up. Then move the position control handle all the way to the top. The hitch should not move higher. You are allowed a bit more lift with the position control with in about an inch or so. If any adjustments are needed there is a small cover on the side of the quadrant housing. Move the handles to the center of the quadrant the hitch should lower bout have way. Now lower the the position control handle to the offset in the quadrant the hitch should lower all the way. The off set in the quadrant slow lowering of the hitch. This is the action control position. To check if it working properly. With draft handle in center of quadrant raise hitch all the way up with the position control, now move position handle quickly into the offset, the hitch should lower very slowly, if you bring the handles out of the off set the hitch will lower at its normal speed now.
