Farmall 706 governor removal

Just need to know if I will get any surprises when I remove the governor off my 706 gas? I know it's kind of a dumb question. But I have to take the governor off because I am having a welding shop add to the governor-carb linkage. Specifically the elbow end that hooks to the carb. The elbow is so worn it's about have the size of the rod linkage itself. So I am popping off the carb and the governor so they have the holes the rod goes into. Just to ensure a tight fit.
I just didn't know if anything was going to pop out like a spring when the gov comes off.

That is good to know! Thanks. Now i'm thinking i can just replace the choke shaft of the the carb. That's the hole that is worn the worst. I mean should I have the linkage rod end built up to match the extremely worn hole? Or just replace the hole that is worn. Yeah the rod end is probably worn a little bit. I can't seem to find just to find just a choke shaft. Seems like everyone is wanting to sell the whole carb kit for like $80(Steiner).

Ooops. I meant upper throttle shaft. Not choke shaft. Too many gas fumes:)
I have repaired the levers by drilling the hole larger, then making a "stepped bushing" on the lathe and silver soldering or brazing the bushing into the oversized hole to bring it back to original size. Got a lathe or a friend with lathe?

You probably will not find a throttle shaft separate from the carb. I would say look other places than new old tractor parts for one in a junk carb. Like junkyards or carb rebuilders for one. Steiners is one of the highest priced places to get parts i find when looking and have not looked for some time anymore because of it. I look in other places like junkyards or see a local parts house. They are just about like the guys that say if we can't get it or don't have it you probably don't need it.

Thanks guys for the suggestions. I ended up buying a complete carb kit. But how to I get the brass throttle shaft bushing out(without wrecking anything)???? Can it be punched out from inside with a small flat screwdriver? Or drill it out. Don't think I have the right size drill bit right now. I was kind of excited because the governor linkage fits the new carb part pretty tight.
