Farmall Regular running rough and no power

The fuel line on the Farmall started leaking at an old solder repair. I replaced with 5/16 OD with 1/4 ID copper tubing. since doing that it runs really rough and has no power. Can't even turn over an F-12 with a flatbelt. It keeps almost dyeing when I try to drive it. When I open up the bowl drain while running there is nothing in the bowl, which it seems to me like there should be some in the bowl while running? It had a small leak at the manifold to carburetor gasket, so I replaced it with a homemade cork gasket that was actually a little thick. I had to disassemble a bit of the governor linkage tubing to get the carb to fit with the gasket. I mange to tighten it down really good. I'm afraid that I may have messed the linkage up a little as there is a lot of back and forth play in the throttle plate. It wont run good and wont run at all below half throttle. At full throttle it splutters and backfires, and at one point was spitting flame. It'll run okay for a few seconds and go back to that, then run good for a few seconds. I tried cleaning out the sediment bowl, line, and carb, but no luck. It almost seemed worse after replacing the gasket? After running it a few minutes the plugs are coated in carbon. I've tried to adjust the carb but no luck. It ran really well before I had to replace the line. I don't know if this is a carb adjustment issue or if a screwed something up. i have no clue what I'm doing when it come to Farmall so I thought I'd ask the experts

There should be fuel in the bowl . You may have dislodged a chunk of dirt that has migrated to the float check valve. Some dissassembly of the carb will be required to find the restriction. I would be tempted to remove the fuel line and check for cleanliness in the input fitting and full flow throught the new fuel line first.

Go back over what you did and correct the issues, make a list check off one at a time . for example I don’t know how you prepared the copper line , did you deburr it ? Cooper fragments blocked it Possibly Just a suggestion for possible issue .

Do you have flow to the carb? If not you are plugged in the tank or lines. Ron MN

jd2cyl,
Does rhis Regular have the brass carburetor? If yes, is the suction stem inside the carb good? Ours was in bad shape on our old Regular.
