Fiat-Allis FD-50

I am writing an article about a FD-40. I am making reference to the FD-50. All I am able to find out is that it was manufactured from 1982 to 1989 and it had a 550 HP Cummins VT28-C engine. Can anyone advise me as to where the FD-50 was manufactured, the number of machines produced, if the engine was an 8 or 12 cylinder, and the shipping of the dozer with a blade and a ripper. Also, where was the FD-40 manufactured, how many machines were produced and what was the shipping weight with a blade and a ripper. Thank you. Phillip

in the early 1970s Allis designed a 75 ton dozer, the model 41, built in springfield Illinois. Several years later they built a slightly smaller tractor the model 31 which had a smaller engine and foot shorter frame, same transmission and final drives. FIAT of italy bought into the company about 1980. After tht the tractors were refered to as FD (fiat dozer) 40 and 50, for 400 HP class and 500 HP class. The FD50 was about 80 tons with a 18-20 ft blade. IT used a 1710 V12 Cummins motor with a Twin Disc torque converter and transmission. THere were a few hundred made. Many were sold in Pennsulvania mines. Also had a big contract with Russia and South Amereica a couple times. Springfield plant closed about 1986. Fiat makes the smaller tracotrs overseas, but stopped manufacture of the 40 and 50.
