Ford 2000 running terrible

If you read more of the replies that has already been established. I know it seems like “another day at the office” for Ford people, but having what is essentially two different tractors with the same model designation is strange outside of the Ford corral. Name it a 2001,
2010 or a 2000a… something to designate that there is a difference, rant over! :)
I have always, too, thought it odd to use the same 2000 number for two very different tractors, but he did say 4 cyl, 1962, '63 in his initial post, that would direct a "Ford guy".

I thought I aready posted this but don't see it. You know there is a filter inside the sediment bowl? And 2 small filters at the fuel pump in front? Friend had same issue and even put on new fuel pump but he did not know there was a filter inside the bowl. That was the proble

They sure didn't reuse the 6000 number!

They used the 4000 model number for 3 different tractors, the earlier 4 cylinder and later 3 cylinder models here in the US like the 2000, and they also used the 4000 model name for the Fordson Major in the UK for the last couple of years before the World tractors came out for the 1965 model year to get customers over there accustomed to the name before they released the World Tractors. They sold the Fordson Super Major as the 5000 here in the US for a couple of years before the new 5000 came out in 1965.

I'm back again: I rechecked fuel flow, being sure to allow bowl to empty before starting to measure. I have 1 pint in 2 minutes, I think that is accepted rate. I loosened distributor and turned while idling, going either way far eough eventually made it die. I don't think timing is an issue, however at this point I just really do not know. I am going to go over things again. I am trying to find someone local who can help me but there are not too many men still around who know these old tractors. I am busy with other things, but eventually I will get this tractor going somehow. Thanks for all your help, everyone!

Back again! Just started my tractor to move out of winter parking in shed. Amazingly, it ran pretty well, not quite right, but good enough to push a little brush over into the pile. worked it about 15 minutes, didn't hear the backfire one time! I haven't touched it for a solid month, and last work I did was diagnostic only, and at that time it was running too bad to get rpms above idle and backfiring through exhaust. There is obviously some intermittent problem that will pop up again. I feel like this is an indication that there is not a mechanical problem with the engine itself. I will post again when I try to use it again, let you all know how it's going. Hope everyone is having a nice spring, it is so wet here in southern ohio I can't keep up with my mowing.:(
