ford 3000 power steering trouble

I had power steering fluid getting into engine oil so ordered a new power steering pump online and installed on tractor but soon after bent steering cylinder
found out then the Ford 3000 was only supposed to be 650 psi pump. I have read that you can adjust pressure on some new pumps by taking shims out of relief valve. I am not sure I can do this on the pump I have but will attach pics of the pump and if anyone can inform me on how to do this I would sure appreciate it

Welcome to YT.
Tell us if you have the old style pump with seperate reservoir or new style pump with integral reservoir. Photo below shows the new style.
Bent steering cylinders on those tractors is pretty common and yes, it's caused by too high of pressure at the pump.
The same pump is sold for your tractor as well as 4000 and 5000 size tractors - plus several industrial models - which use a higher pressure. And most sellers do not know this.
Do you have a repair manual?
I strongly suggest getting an I&T FO-31 manual - (photo) It will cover reshimming your steering pump to the correct pressure.
Lastly, there is a Ford specific forum here that I suggest you use for your 3000 questions.
Great bunch of very knowledgeable guys there that are willing to help.

You can reshim the pump for lower pressure but be sure to NEVER hold the steering at the stops... this is what bends the rods...
I guess you saw on the Ford forum I am playing with a pump. I am going make a guess all these pumps are the same except for the pressure relief valve spring and shims. It would be a P.I.T.A to get the correct spring and shim set up. The easiest thing to do would be to swap pressure relief valves. There are a many $150 pumps out there to be safe (has a warranty I can trust) I ordered one from this site it was in the $300 range it worked great.
