Need help please I have ford 3000 i took the power steering apart to fix steering shaft leak and polished shaft around seals after putting back together the tractor no longer turns to the right with the power steering. It’s like it has negative steering. I’ll take it apart two times and put it back together. Still the same thing what am I doing wrong?

I was told several times "don't take it apart". So far, I haven't had to. But I am doing seals in the next day or two. If you wait long enough, someone will come along here and suggest a place to send the orbital valve, to put it back together correctly. steve

Sounds like you have the lines hooked up incorrectly if I’m understanding you.

I do not remember if it was taken off or not was me and landlord working on it. We had to remove the shaft completely to get the pits and score marks filled and polished if I remember correctly, we just turn the steering wheel completely to One Direction to unscrewed itself and it came right out.

Going to be taking apart again tomorrow take it off the tractor. Then start breaking it down completely and starting for a third time. I went to the local tractor dealership talk to the mechanics and nobody could work on anything. That old had no idea how that power string worked. Then old man walked up and told me. I had to line the gears in a straight line when I put the shaft back in. Other wise will not activate the pumps I cannot find a guide or diagram anywhere that shows how to time that shaft with the gears if that is the right way

I know the ones on the left are correct that one. It is perfectly fine to the left. I had a photo of that before I took it off. I’m assuming the right side is correct. I’ll check that in the morning. First thing the sun comes up before I take it off and tear apart again.

Do yourself a favor and buy a service manual. Sit down and read it and follow the step by step procedure for reassembly. I have done dozens of these sectors, but I still get the manual out when working on one.

If its a timing issue I don't think you will have to disassemble it to time it.

With the engine off and the front jacked up can you turn the wheels fully to the left and right
If not you have a timing issue, if you can turn the wheels left and right but only have power steering in one direction you probably have a control valve issue, the staked nut and washer have a specific adjustment that must be correct for the power steering to work

I have the manual I have this manual, but my problem is is I don’t know what to look for. It’s my Landlord tractor. He’s disabled and he’s having me take over the farm in the last three months. I know boats I built custom boats. I just now got my redneck license and learned how to drive a tractor three months ago. I will check everybody suggestions today when I get home. I really appreciate y’all are very nice.

I don’t have an I&T manual but they are known to be pretty good manuals
There should be a section for the steering but it takes a little looking

Thank you I’m going through that manual again man it sure as hell not a Chilton manual Chilton I can understand yeah the one he got is for advanced professional mechanics something I am far far galaxies away from ever being on tractors lol
If if you don’t learn something new every day you might as well climb into the grave. Thanks guys. I’ll touch back tomorrow after I try everybody’s suggestions.

When I get this figure out, I’m making a how not to do video and posting on YouTube
Like I do when I rebuild a boat.

Well I lied to you, I was searching thru some operators manuals and sales brochures and found an old I&T manual # FO-31. The first dozen pages covers the steering for your tractor
I know these manuals are pretty condensed considering it’s 150 pages is trying to cover the same repairs as my 3 volume factory service manuals with over a thousand pages
