Fordson Major Diesel valve seat question

Hello, I am rebuilding my Fordson major diesel engine and it seems like it does not have replaceable valve seats. Like the seats have been cut into the head. Is this correct or are they removable? Just want to check before I run a bead of weld on the seats to remove them. The valve sits way to far in the head for anyone curious as to why i'm replacing them.

Yes your local machine shop can replace them , without seeing this , no need to weld .
they also can replace the valve guides , set your valve. shut height

Are u doing the complete valve job yourself ? Or are u a machinist ? It’s all machine shop work. Never had a machinist ask this question or not know how to go about it.

I was wondering if it came with pressed in valve seats or integral valve seats because I couldn't really tell. I gave it a really good look and they are integral valve seats so a counterbore needs to be cut by a machinist for pressed in valve seats to be installed. I am not a machinist, but I can replace pressed in valve seats, and cut them using a portable hand cutter.

You need to get a parts book. If the head is clean enough you can tell whether it has inserts. The insert will be clean and smooth for the diameter of the counter bore.
