Claas Matador Standard

One of the first combines I had the pleasure of working on. They were introduced the year prior to me joining the dealership in 1962 so were still new when I started. There were two machines in the range, the Claas Matador Standard, usually a 10' cut with a Perkins 4.270 engine or a Ford Industrial, the same engine that powered the Fordson Super Major, and the Matador Gigant (Giant) with a larger grain hopper, larger tyres and either a Perkins 6.354 or Ford 590E Industrial six cylinder engine.
The Nuffield 10/60 was just introduced as I left the Nuffield dealership I was working for and joined the Fordson dealer.

We had a 48 SP125 McCormick 12foot. It was so dirty and nasty to operate. Greasing 100 fittings was also woof, nasty. Jim
