The IH built Cub Cadets were about bullet proof. But then they're getting to be old machines these days. But since you are mechanically inclined that probably wouldn't be a problem. Easy to work on for the most part. I have about 8 of them and even the smallest one I have, a Cub Cadet 70, pulled my 1963 Olds Dynamic 88 coupe across the yard. That will pull a couple hundred pounds on a stone boat (an old car hood) as we called them.

The only problem with Kohler powered tractors is that aluminum head sitting up there on top of that cast iron block. If it wasn't treated to a new head gasket on a regular basis the head is likely warped, and new ones are not available. They were great in their day, but that was half a century ago.

Lots of 2n, 8n, and 9n tractors in western Oregon. I have seen them for $250 and up. Heavy transmission and clutch. If you can, find one with turf tires. Lower and set wide. When you are done with the rocks and mowing, go on a tractor ride....James
