H Farmalls--Show of hands...

I think IH made closer to 400,000 Farmall H tractors. My great grandfather and grandfather both had an H. Grandpa's H spun a rod bearing in 1974 when I was three or four. It went to the pasture and sat for years. I kept telling myself when I get older I'm going to fix it and drive it in the local parade. Then when I was 13 went to the neighbors farm auction with dad and found "my" H was in the line up. Stood there and watch it sell. it was a 1941 model sold for $500. Brought more than the running H sitting right next to it.

Every time I hear an H running or see an H at a parade I think I need to find one.

When I was in high school in late 80s a local farmer had 16running Farmall MD tractors all with duals plus six gas Ms with loaders and one H. I believe he had six estate auctions. More MD parts tractors than a salvage yard.
I was wrong above. The actual count was 391,227.

i have a 49 h with a trip bucket loader and home made cab. have chains and a snow plow for it. rear tires are loaded with calcium. also have a 42m, 48m, 52m and a 53 super m. its like eating peanuts, ya cant just have one😄

I forget about the local go-kart racing association which I work for , there's an H on the water tank sprayer and an M wide front on the big tire drag. Both, like another fellow said, not a stitch of paint, the decals are unreadable yet they run good with no odd transmission noises, just like designed.

For kicks, how many of ya'll own an H Farmall?

I own three, a '41, '44, and a '51, All running and able to do what's asked of them.

A friend, now deceased, who owned a cow ranch north of Ogalala, NE, owned six, each with a specific job on the ranch. Up until the day he died a couple of years ago, he swore they were still the handiest tractors for putting up hay.

Out of the 95,000, give or take, that were built from 1939 to 1952 it would be interesting to know how many are still alive and well and earning their keep.
We still use two Hs on the farm. I agree they are handy for haying. They also work well for moving machinery around, running small augers or elevators, pulling a yard drag, feed wagon, or manure spreader.

Dad worked the snot out of the H, I believe it was his first and only new tractor, old fashioned small dairy turned into beef, hogs, and chickens, and corn and small grains and soybeans farm, it handled all the manure for 50+ years, snow moving, and wood heating sawing for 3 houses.

Still have it.

I have a January 1940 H, has many of the 1939 features. Mostly used for plow days now.

Also have a 1942 H stored way in the back of the toy box, and a 1953 Super H that needs a new wiring harness.

Only 95,000 made? I thought the H was one of the IHC's biggest sellers? Maybe that number is right but I thought it was a lot higher.
As I said elsewhere, I was wrong. The actual count was 391,227. That's about 580 per week, or 115 per day in a 5 day week. Or about one every 4 minutes.

I have a 51 H

My H is a 39, magneto and a four digit serial number. One of the few able to date the day it was made. Last day of peace prior to Hitler's invasion of Poland to begin World War 2.

I have one, used for odd jobs like fencing, and running an auger. Used two to make one. One with a good engine and bad fifth the other where some one changed oil but didn't fill right away. This was done around 20 years ago with my grandpa, it is also the first tractor I painted.

My '51 H has an IH #33A loader with a hydraulic bucket. The hydraulic pump has been plumbed through a two spool control.
