Harvest 2021

I know pull type combines are a novelty item to you in the South but they used to be pretty popular here. I still do most of my harvest with a John Deere 7721 which is the pull type version of the popular 7720. This was the last day of harvest 2021. Case IH magnum 7130 up front. Jigsaw for you.

Rusty, they may be a novelty item now, but they were once widely used. Remember when I was 5 or 6 years old going to my grandfather's farm during wheat harvest. He had a pull type JD, and it was a bagger, which was also very popular. Our job was to ride on the wagon, hop of, and throw the bags up on the wagon, one 5 or 6 year old grabbing one end, and one on the other.

For sure JD, IH and Massey sold a lot of pull types here. Plus most other makes offered a pull type version. It was a way to get big capacity for half the price of a self propelled. My dad's first combine was the little Case model A. Six foot cut and about a 25 bushel grain tank. It had a bagger attachment for the weed seeds that the roto cleaner took out but I don't think he used that much as it would have been an extra time consuming job dealing with the bags of weed seeds.
