I need help in how to find out what model and year of Farmall tractor this is. It was my grandfathers', he bought it in 1951 according to my uncle. It was a few years old when he purchased it from a friend. If someone could let me know where to look and what I am looking for to identify it, many thanks in advance.

That is a Farmall H. It has no lights on it, but has the switch and fuse holder for them on the Electrical box. Single 12" front tire. Probably earlier than 1947. ID plate should be in front of the battery on the cast housing. Very old tires with turkey foot tread pattern. Jim

The ID plate Jim mentioned will tell you what model it is. Write down the serial number off it and post it here, or else look it up elsewhere on this site. That will tell you what year it is.

Start a thread and tell us everything you know about turkey foot tires. I hadn’t heard of that before.

Thank you for the information. It is a 1950 production model H. The ID plate was found under some dirt and gunk.

What do you mean older than open center? I found the ID plate and the sn puts it as 1950 Model H
Hello jbaldwin.., welcome to YT! The discussion is about the tread pattern of your rear tires. The pattern you have with nearly a continuous raised bar or lug around the tire that breaks out into the angled lugs/bars is an older tread pattern. If you look at current ag tread patterns they have spaces between the bars. Will the engine turn? Most old Farmalls that set outside very long get locked up from rust due to water getting past the exhaust pipe threads into the manifold and then down into the pistons.

Last time it was tried, it ran. It was overhauled 15 years ago, moved 2 times since then but for the last year has been in the same spot. The pipes that are on it, have been covered to prevent rain from getting in. The engine turns but I don't have any plans to crank it up and move it again unless it is sold.

It will sell a lot better if it is running than if not. Like scrap price if not running and more if running how much more depends on area demand and if you get the right guy looking for it. The single front wheel in some areas would be a novelty versus the 2 front wheels .
